About the Project
Formula Metrics Lab is an independent fan project focused on simple, transparent metrics that help answer Formula 1 questions.
Whether it's "Who's really been the best driver lately?", "Is this driver improving or just having one good weekend?", or "Was this race actually exciting or mostly processional?", the goal is to add a clear, objective starting point to the discussion.
Our Philosophy
Formula Metrics Lab isn't about building the most sophisticated models possible. It's about building the simplest ones that can still answer interesting Formula 1 questions.
Every metric follows three principles:
- Simple. Use only the data needed to answer the question.
- Transparent. Anyone should be able to understand how the metric works.
- Reproducible. The same inputs should always produce the same results.
These metrics aren't meant to be the final word. They're meant to give fans a consistent, objective starting point for discussion.
